Dr Paraskevi Sakka completed her medical training at the Cambridge University Psychiatric Hospital, UK. Since 2003, she has been Director of the Department of Neurodegenerative Brain Diseases – Memory Clinic of Hygeia Hospital in Athens. Her research interests include pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatments of dementia and the use of Technological Innovations in monitoring and supporting patients with cognitive impairment. She has founded the Athens Alzheimer Association in which has been continuously elected president, since 2002. During the last years she has been active in making Dementia a Public Health priority in Greece. Since 2015, as Head of the Greek National Observatory for Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, she has been working towards the development and the implementation of the Greek Dementia Action Plan.

From May 2008 up to present she is a registrar at the Neurodegenerative Brain Diseases Department of Hygeia Hospital in Athens and a consultant neurologist for Outpatient Clinic of HYGEIA hospital and hospitalized patients. She was a consultant neurologist in “AKTIOS” Elderly Care Units from July 2008 to June 2013.

She works in the Athens Alzheimer’s Association since 2007 and she coordinates a Dementia Day Care Center in Maroussi since 2012. Additionally, she participates in research programs (HELIAD) in collaboration with the A’ Neurological Clinic of Eginition Hospital from 2009 until today. Her clinical and research interests focus on neurodegenerative brain diseases, risk factors and prevention strategies for dementia.

Nikolina Kapsali holds a B.A. in Psychology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Greece and she is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in Health Care Management at Hellenic Open University. She is specialized in Systemic and Counseling Psychotherapy. Since 2016 she works as a psychologist at the Neurodegenerative Diseases Department – Memory Clinic of HYGEIA Hospital, Athens. She has previously been a volunteerpsychometrician in the Day Care Center of Athens Alzheimer’s Association.
