What should patients bring when visiting the clinic?
  • What should people carry with them, when visiting our Unit;

    • Their Social Security Number (AMKA)
    • Their I.D card
    • Optical acuity correction glasses (myopia/presbyopia)
    • The most recent blood and biochemical tests, electrocardiogram, other examinations that may have taken place (if present), medical reports from specialists (if there is a positive individual history for any disease or disorder).
    • MRI or C/T scan (if present).
    • Medical Report from a Psychiatrist or a Neurologist, if present.
    • Application, in accordance with the decision of the General Directorate of Mental Health, of the Ministry of Health, in case there is need for transfer to a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Unit.
Research Activities

Research activities:

 

  • Participation in Panhellenic and International conferences on dementia (Alzheimer’s and related disorders), with the organization of round tables and scientific announcements.
  • Participation in scientific workshops on dementia (Alzheimer’s and related disorders).
  • Participation in research projects, conducted by the Panhellenic Federation of Alzheimer’s Disease and the European Federation of Alzheimer’s Disease.
  • Articles, authored by members of our scientific staff, in the official journal of the Panhellenic Federation of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders “Communication for Alzheimer’s Disease”.
Educational Activities
  • Educational activities:

    • Organization of Informative campaigns throughout the country, in order to raise awareness, as far as Alzheimer’s and related disorders are concerned, as well as carrying out memory tests to people of the local communities. These activities are realized on a monthly basis even to the remotest areas, while a number of over 2000 people, are examined every year.
    • Organization of Psychoeducational seminars on Alzheimer’s and related disorders, addressed to caregivers, health professionals and students.
    • Informative campaigns on Alzheimer’s and related disorders to schools. Educational visits of schools to our Unit, where they are thoroughly educated on dementia issues. 
    • Education and practical training of students of health related professions
    • Staff training, on new developments in the field of dementia

    • People with Alzheimer’s and related disorders.
    • Carers of people, with Alzheimer’s and related disorders
    • People from the general population, with positive risk factors for dementia

    (Prevention Group, of our Unit’s Day Center).

  • Available Services:

    • Examination and Assessment by our Memory Clinic (Neuropsychological evaluation, Intake of the persons’ medical and Psychiatric and medication history. Clinical examination and setting of a diagnosis)
    • Enlistment of patients either to our Unit’s Day Center, or admission to our Unit’s Long (15 beds) or Short Stay (5 beds) Department.
    • Medical monitoring, by Psychiatrist and Internist on an internal (inpatients) or external basis (Day Center patients or patients followed up by our Unit’s Memory Clinic).

He has completed his specialization in Psychiatry, in 2006, and has obtained a Master’s Degree (MSc.) in Social Psychiatry and C.A.P in 2007. He is an experienced Psychiatrist, with a long experience in Private Practice from 2006, until today. Specialized in Psychogeriatrics, Adult Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Psychopharmacology, Crisis Intervention, Clinical Supervision, Prevention and Dual Diagnosis. Dr. Zachariadis is a member of the Hellenic Psychiatric Association, which he represents at the Section of Psychiatry of the UEMS, as well as a member of the Psychogeriatrics Branch of the Hellenic Psychiatric Association. He speaks fluently Greek, English, French and Italian. Since 2016, he is also employed in our Unit, He is Psychiatrically supervising our Long and Short stay Departments, the patients of our Day Center, as well as those that are followed up, by him on an external basis.  He is also in charge of our Unit’s Memory Clinic.

He graduated from the Occupational Therapy Department of the School of Health and Welfare Professionals of the Technological Scientific Foundation of Athens (2001). Occupational therapist in boarding houses with geriatric patients since 2005.  Member of our Unit’s Scientific Team since 2013 and Scientific Coordinator since 2018. Administration of specialized Occupational Therapy Programs, support of cognitive-perceptual and sensory-motor skills, daily living activities and education on supportive technology, of people that are members of our Unit’s Day Center, and our Long and Short Stay Departments. All this, has the target to improve self-sufficiency and creative occupation, and may take place, in group or individual sessions. Assessment of cases and laying out of Individual Therapeutic Plans. Participation together with the Unit, to informative campaigns on dementia carried out throughout the country. Speaker to Panhellenic congresses and workshops on dementia, Psychoeducation Seminars, and tο Occupational Therapy Department of the Metropolitan College of Athens. Supervisor of internship program of Occupational Therapy students in the Unit.

She has graduated from the Psychology Department of the National and Capodistrian University of Athens, in 2014. Since 2015 until today, she is being trained as a Psychotherapist in Systemic-Family Psychotherapy, at the “Antistixis” Therapeutic and Educational Institute for Existential Systemic Approach. Former collaborator of Patroclos Papadakis, Psychotherapy and Consultation, in Kallithea (2015-2018). Collaborator in the Municipal Clinic of the Municipality of N. Heraklio, from 2019, until now. From 2018, until now she is a scientific collaborator of the program http://www.thallo.care/, while from 2016 until now, she is working in our Unit as a Psychologist. Among her duties are, the mental empowerment of the people who participate to the programs of our Unit, their neuropsychological assessment, the counselling of relatives, patients and caregivers and informative presentations on dementia. She has participated in numerous Panhellenic and European Conferences on dementia.

She has graduated from the Psychology Department of the Panteion University for Social and Political Sciences. She holds a transnational postgraduate diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology & Cognitive Neurosciences, from the National and Capodistrian University, the Medical school of Athens & the Montreal Neurological Institute, Mc Gill University. She is a collaborator of the A’ University Neurology Department at the Eginition Hospital, with a specialization in neurodegenerative and mobility disorders.  Has significant research in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, with her participation as a speaker and an author, in Panhellenic, European and International Conferences, and the authoring of scientific articles in significant foreign and Greek scientific journals, as well as her participation in clinical trials and research programs. She is a member of the working group on dementia, of the relative Branch of the Hellenic Neurologic Association, in Greece.  She is currently working as a Clinical Neuropsychologist, in our Unit and is also working on her PhD dissertation, at the Panteion University. Finally, she is very actively involved in raising awareness within the state, as far as Alzheimer’s and related disorders are concerned.

He has graduated from the Department of Social Administration and Policy, of the Demokriteion University of Thrace (2014), and holds a Postgraduate Title, in Special Education, by the University of East London (2016), related to autistic spectrum disorders, dyslexia and ADHD. Has worked as a special educator of parallel support, near pupils with autistic spectrum disorders (2016-2017).  From 2017, until today he is working in our Unit. He is offering significant services and is coordinating groups of participants to our Unit’s Day Center, and of inpatients of our Short and Long stay Department. He is participating as a speaker in the Psychoeducative Seminars organized by our Unit. He has also participated in Conferences and Seminars and has worked as a volunteer with vulnerable social groups.

He has postgraduate studies, in the Postgraduate Program on Bone Metabolic Diseases, by the Medical School of Athens, in the Postgraduate Program on Health Unit Management, by the School of social Sciences of the Open University of Patras and in the Postgraduate Program on Management of old age and chronic diseases, by the Medical School of the University of Thessaly. She graduated on 2006, from the Athens Gymnastic Academy. From 2012, until now, she is working with the psychomotor skills of people with dementia, as a member of our Unit’s scientific staff. The aim of the psychomotor skills programs is to empower the motor functions of the patients with Alzheimer’s through special programs of training the upper and lower limbs. In more detail, our Unit’s psychomotor skills program, develops and improves: the motor skills of upper and lower limbs and specifically the conservation or improvement of the fundamental motor patterns, perceptual motor functions, such as the kinesthetic perception (orientation of body, in space), coordination and orientation skills and rhythm and basic physical abilities.

He attended music studies and music and pedagogical workshops. He has worked at all levels of education. He relates to special education and treatment, since 1992, “driving” music programs with children and adults, with special educational needs and disabilities. At the same time, he coordinates and plays in the musical group “ECHO N ECHO”. He also coordinates and participates in the regular programs of “MOUSIKOPAREA” in nursing care units, for people of the third age. For many years he was a teacher, in the postgraduate program of the Department of Education in Early Childhood, of the National and Capodistrian University of Athens. He has a rich work on writing and translating on Music Pedagogical subjects and Music Therapy. In our Unit he is employed since 2019.
